CFC Cranksgiving Ride
(10 miles)
Join us for the CFC Cranksgiving Ride, a chance to give back while doing what we love—riding! This 9.6-mile route includes stops at several grocery stores, where riders will purchase food items to donate to a local food bank.

Cranksgiving is a wonderful way to show gratitude for the blessings of health, community, and the simple joy of cycling. Come ride with us and help make a difference!

Cranksgiving Ride – Route Description

The ride begins and ends at the Greenfield Lake parking lot, best accessed from East Lake Shore Drive. (You can also enter from the Boat House parking lot—just continue past the pickleball courts to the far end.)

From Greenfield Lake, we’ll head southeast, crossing 17th Street at Glen Meade and Independence Boulevard at Canterbury—a route familiar to riders who’ve done the Flaming Amy’s ride.

Just beyond the First Baptist Activity Center, we’ll turn left onto Fordham Road, where we’ll make our first two grocery stops:

  • Lidl, on the east side of Independence Mall, and

  • Whole Foods, just ahead on the right before reaching Oleander Drive.

Next, we’ll stop at Harris Teeter, located across Oleander on the north side of the mall. From there, the route continues along Floral Parkway, then turns left onto Park Avenue to join the River to Sea Bikeway.

We’ll cross Independence Boulevard at the light and follow the Bikeway west to Dawson Street, turning left to reach our fourth grocery stop—Food Lion, at the corner of Dawson and Oleander.

After leaving Food Lion, we’ll rejoin the Bikeway and continue onto Castle Street, heading west across 17th and 16th Streets (both signalized intersections). Past 16th, we’ll turn left on 15th Street, then right on Queen Street, continuing west to 10th Street. From there, we’ll make a left and continue to Wooster and Dawson Streets, where we’ll stop at one or both of our donation drop-off sites:

  • the Food Bank on Greenfield Street, and/or

  • the Good Shepherd Center on Martin Street.

The ride concludes with a short return to the Greenfield Lake parking lot, where we began.

What to Bring:
Riders are encouraged to equip their bikes with panniers, handlebar bags, expandable seat bags, or daypacks—whatever works best to carry grocery items to the Food Bank or Good Shepherd Center.

Shopping Guidance:
A list of most-needed items from both organizations will be provided before the ride.

Post-Ride Social:
After the Cranksgiving ride, those who’d like to celebrate can gather at The Harp, just two blocks away on South 3rd Street. From 2–4 PM, a group of local string musicians will be playing traditional Irish tunes—perfect for winding down after doing some good on two wheels.
